'Southgate should be knighted'Allardyce asks for the knighthood England play Spain in Euro final GettyWHAT HAPPENED?
Southgate has become possibly the greatest England manager in the 21st century as he has now led them to two straight Euro finals and he will have the chance to win the Three Lions' first title since the 1966 World Cup. Allardyce has asked for King Charles III to give Southgate the knighthood if that happens.

When talking on the No Tippy Tappy podcast, Allardyce said: “There’s no doubt about it. They can’t dish out all the honours that they have done recently for sporting people and not give Southgate a knighthood. However, lots of people don’t accept them but I don’t think Gareth is the type to do that.
"I give him all the praise which he deserves because he mastered a tactical change against the Netherlands. He picked the right team in the right system, which we saw by how Phil Foden played. Then he made fantastic substitutions and used the squad well. It was such a joy to see them play well and win it in the last minute.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Allardyce has also predicted the Three Lions to beat Spain 2-1, he said: "My prediction for the final is England to win 2-1."
“I’d imagine it’ll probably go to extra-time and I can see Jude Bellingham scoring the winner because he won’t be subbed. People have criticised him but the timing of his goals have been brilliant and he’s the one that got the team through," he added.
WHAT NEXT FOR ENGLAND?
The Three Lions will take on Spain in the Euro 2024 final on Sunday, July 14 at the Olympastadion in Berlin as they face the challenge to make things right after the Euro 2020 final.
