Madrid win 3-2 over Almeria after VAR callsVinicius seemingly uses arm to equaliseRFEF's VAR audio leaves Almeria incensedWHAT HAPPENED?
After Almeria had taken a two-goal lead over the league leaders, Madrid pulled one back from a debatable penalty – but it was Vinicius Jr's equaliser that brought the most outrage. The referee almost immediately ruled the Brazilian's effort out for handball as the ball flew in off his shoulder after he grappled with a defender, but after checking the incident on the monitor, he reversed the decision and awarded the goal.
Madrid went on to win the game 3-2, leaving the bottom side in La Liga incensed – even more so after the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) released audio of the video assistant referee's decision-making process in giving the goal.
Responding to the video, Almeria posted on X: "Why wasn't the referee shown the rest of the angles that we have been able to see on TV?"

The loss was a heartbreaking one for the Rojiblancos as they looked likely to win for the first time this season. However, the defeat, despite an impressive performance, leaves them rooted to the bottom of the league 10 points from safety. Post-match, the club's social media refused to post a match report as they evidently felt robbed on the night, writing: "Don't expect us to publish the match report. Everything is more than clear."

Speaking after the game, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti rubbished all claims that the referee had made mistakes in the game, saying: "The three decisions made by VAR were correct."
