Southampton star Gaston Ramirez is hoping to complete a move to Inter Milan, according to the Daily Express.
The midfielder only joined the Saints last summer, becoming their club record signing following a £12million move from Bologna.
The Saints beat off competition from Liverpool to capture the 22-year-old, who showed glimpses of his considerable talent on the South Coast, but struggled to find consistency to his game.
Now it appears after just one season in the Premier League, the Uruguayan international is looking to engineer a move away, with Italian giants Inter Milan his reported destination.
The player’s agent Pablo Betancourt, said of the Serie A interest: “I don’t think they’re just rumours, since even in England they’re calling me up and asking about Inter’s interest.
“If Inter want him he’ll cost them a significant sum.
“Italy remains in his heart. If an offer comes in, we’ll consider it.”
The news will come as a blow to Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino, who is preparing for his first full season in charge at St. Mary’s, and is desperate to keep one of the few players capable of providing real moments of magic.
Southampton have so far added Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama this summer, for a fee of £12.5million as they look to build a squad capable of establishing themselves in the Premier League.
