Tottenham’s scouting department have reportedly been very busy over the last few days, with some in attendance at Benfica’s match against Lyon in the Champions League.
A Bola report via Sport Witness that Spurs were in attendance at the game, and while no names are given as to who they might have been watching by the original report, Sport Witness suggest Houssem Aoaur of Lyon and Alejandro Grimaldo of Benfica could be of interest, with the latter in particular attracting interest from fans of the north London outfit.
Many should be aware of him as he has been linked to the club previously, going back to 2017 when he was reportedly being eyed as a potential Danny Rose replacement, so the club should have a good knowledge of what he can offer.
The England international has been in and out of the team a little this year, which hints that Mauricio Pochettino isn’t too happy with his options at left-back, and therefore Grimaldo could be a potential solution.
The 24-year-old may only have one assist in seven league games, but he has also helped to keep a clean sheet on five of those occasions, so could be what Spurs need to shore up the defence, albeit having played at a lower standard.
Some supporters are certainly encouraged by the news, and this is how they have been reacting.
