The fan wearing a Jean-Philippe Mateta shirt was invited onto the pitch at the interval of the Premier League clash to take a penalty against Palace mascot Pete the Eagle. It was converted by the youngster with aplomb, before he turned to face the travelling fans, making a shushing gesture.

Although most saw it for what it was, a brilliant piece of harmless sh*thousery from a child aimed at full grown adults, one Liverpool fan in the crowd was caught flicking a 'V' with his fingers at the kid.

Liverpool managed to hold onto the early lead given to them by Diogo Jota to claim victory and three points. With the international break now taking over after this weekend, the Reds are not back in action until Chelsea visit Anfield on October 20. Palace, for whom this was a second-straight defeat to a team from Merseyside, travel to Nottingham Forest on October 21.
