Goals from Kane and Muller secured Bayern their second-straight Bundesliga win of the season in their first home match in front of their fans on Sunday. In doing so, Muller brought up his 710th appearance for the club – making him the outright record appearance holder. That prompted the England captain, who opened his goalscoring account for 2024-25 in the 2-0 victory over Freiburg, to share some kind words about the German veteran.

He wrote on Instagram: "Kicking off the first Bundesliga home game of the season with a win and a goal 🙌👌. Huge congrats to @esmuellert for breaking the @fcbayern appearance record. Incredible player and leader. 🤝."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Muller is a Bayern legend. He has had 17 seasons there, is a record 12-time Bundesliga winner, and has won a whopping 32 trophies with the club. Plus, he is still only 35, so there could yet be more success to come for the one-club man.
