Sancho moves after being exiled at Manchester United following a falling out with manager Erik ten Hag. He returns to Dortmund where he spent three years before signing for the Red Devils in 2021.

“When I came into the dressing room today, it felt like 'coming home'.I know the club inside and out, I've always been very close with the fans here, and I've never lost contact with those in charge," he told Dortmund's website.
“I can’t wait to see my teammates again, go out on the pitch, play football with a smile on my face, prepare goals, score goals and help qualify for the Champions League."

The transfer allows Sancho the opportunity to get his career back on track at a club he knews well. The winger has only made three substitute appearances so far this season and hasn't played competitively since August. Dortmund are contributing €3.5 million (£3m/$3.8m) and up to €4m (£3.4m/$4.3m) in add ons as well as covering the majority of his wages.
