Modric has become the Peter Pan of football, refusing to grow old and retire, like many of his team-mates, and is still going strong at 40 years old. The Croatia international has just signed for AC Milan on a free transfer after a hugely successful spell with Los Blancos.

Modric has given no indication of when he plans to retire and who can blame him for wanting to continue enjoying his illustrious career a little longer. He's won six Champions League titles, six Club World Cups, four La Liga titles and the Ballon d'Or.

The former Tottenham midfielder won the Ballon d'Or in 2018, the same year he led Croatia to the World Cup final and was awarded the Golden Ball for the tournament's best player in Russia. He is now set to play into his 40s, and it remains to be seen when he will hang up his boots.
