Chelsea face Arsenal in the Premier League’s biggest clash this weekend and although the fixture was once essentially a foregone conclusion under Jose Mourinho, the Gunners have beaten the Blues three times from their last four encounters – including a victory in the FA Cup final.
Accordingly, it seems Antonio Conte will have to get his selection and tactics spot on if Chelsea are to claim all three points at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, and potentially re-jigging a defence that has conceded just twice from their last three Premier League games represents perhaps his biggest conundrum.
Indeed, Chelsea have looked solid at the back since that 3-2 defeat to Burnley on the opening weekend of the season, but captain Gary Cahill has now returned from suspension after being sent off early in the first half against the Clarets.
With that in mind, we asked Blues supporters earlier this week whether Cahill should return to the left-sided slot in Chelsea’s back three or whether Antonio Ruidger should continue there against the Gunners.
And somewhat surprisingly, a staggering 82% of Chelsea fans voted for the German international to start over the Blues skipper. Does Cahill no longer make Chelsea’s strongest starting XI? Let us know by commenting below…
