Manchester United attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard caught the eye of supporters up and down the country on Saturday evening, starring for England in a 2-1 win over Nigeria at Wembley.
The 2017/18 football season is over, but the summer is just beginning with all eyes turning to the upcoming World Cup in Russia.
England said goodbye to their home supporters with a final match at Wembley and produced a decent first half performance to do enough work to see off their African visitors.
Jesse Lingard was at the heart of much of the action during that first 45 minutes, finding space and combining with the likes of Dele Alli, Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane in the final third.
Fans of all persuasions appeared impressed with his performance, feeling he should be one of the first names on Gareth Southgate’s team sheet in Russia.
While the second 45 minutes turned into more of a typical friendly encounter, Lingard can be pleased with his display before being substituted off in the 67th minute.
Is he guaranteed a spot in England’s World Cup starting eleven?
